So whether you agree with me on Managua or not (see this entry on living in Managua) you will have to agree that the night scene in the city is pretty hoppin.
A particular favorite is Fussion Bar, or the extended name Fussion ChillOut Bar Concert and Gallery. Fussion Bar is the brain child of Atahuallpa and Dirhiangem Mejia, second generation members of one of Nicaragua’s most famous musical families.
The vibe at Fussion appeals to the artsy crowd, looking for more than your standard bar bumping bass and playing a mix of rap and reggaeton. During the week, the crowd stays pretty chill; people come here to relax and grab a drink with some friends. On the weekends the place heats up with live concerts by a variety of musicians.
Fussion embraces the diversity of the art world, from the way it is designed and decorated to the music it plays. On any given night you can hear local musicians, electronica, and an eclectic mix of music from around the world including punk, balada, reggae, rock, hip hop, flamenco… the list goes on and on.
The place has some pretty far out decorations: doors hanging by wire from the ceilings, ironing boards that serve as coffee tables, sawed-off oil barrels, and antique sewing machines. Graffiti and other works of art decorate the walls. Books are also available for those who just want to grab a seat in a comfy chair and do a little bit of reading.
The place is middle of the road as far as prices go: some cheaper items, and some more expensive.
