Take Me out to the Ball Game!

If you thought the United States was the only country with baseball as a favorite pastime, think again. Nicaraguans are probably more baseball crazy than most Americans! Baseball is actually the most popular sport in Nicaragua, and the national team competes with the best in the world. While you’re in Managua, head down to the stadium and catch a game.Nic4Image

The stadium, near Lake Managua, is located right in front of the ministry of transportation, and with its giant light posts, it’s hard to miss. Every week approximately five games are played here. From Monday to Friday games start in the evening, usually around 6, on Saturday they are played at 2 pm and on Sunday at 11 am. Seats range from C $5 to C $20, which translates to 0.30 USD to 1.20 USD. You can buy your tickets right at the entrance, but make sure to get there about a half hour before the first pitch; important games always sell out fast.
